3 Ways That Training Has Effected My Diet

1. I eat breakfast more consistently. I generally go on runs in the morning. My usual plan is to get up, chill out for a bit, have some hot water with lemon (hydration!), munch on something small (fruit, energy bar, toast), then go out for a run. When I get back from running I'm usually ravenous, so I immediately make myself a good filling (complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats) breakfast to replace all the glycogen I used up. I usually have a horrible tendency to skip breakfast, so I'm glad that I'm now getting a good, solid start to my day.

2. I eat more. Burning all those extra calories makes me hungry!!! I've been eating more often, and eating more food per meal. Trust me, it's not causing weight gain either. Working out puts your metabolism into super speed, so all that extra food is being put to good use!

3. I eat better foods. I know that I'm putting a lot of stress on my body by working out so many days a week, so I do my best to make sure that it has what it needs to build itself back up again everyday. As usual, I'm eating lots of veggies, especially greens, with whole grains and beans, but I'm focusing on eating more cleanly more of the time, and adding foods that I know to be anti-inflammatory, such as ginger. I'm also more conscientious about taking my supplements everyday. Gotta keep my body strong!
